On 1 September 2023, a lesson on mental health support "HOW ARE YOU? Back to School!" for students in grades 1-11.
In the new school year, the first lesson in Ukrainian schools was dedicated to mental health as part of a new wave of the All-Ukrainian programme «How are you?». The strain that children's psyches are under due to the Russian invasion requires a serious and friendly conversation with both children and parents.
The lesson was held as part of the All-Ukrainian mental health programme "How are you?" initiated by the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska.
The lesson was organised by the Coordination Centre for Mental Health under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, UNICEF, the Association for Innovative and Digital Education, the MEGOGO media service, and the Banda agency.
Psychologist Svitlana Royz conducted a video talk for students in grades 1-5. For older pupils, it was psychologist Ekaterina Timakina and psychologist Elijah Elisha Kastornykh. The experts answered the questions: How do emotions help and harm us? How to regain a sense of security and control over the situation? The psychologists also showed exercises that will quickly help stabilise the psychological state.
